Merlin picspam...

I did these (highly amateur) picspams for a challenge at [livejournal.com profile] merlin_land. Because I didn't read the rules properly (ha! big surprise there), I ended up only entering the two below *facepalm*

Kind of fun to do, but this is the last time I spend this much time messing around with pictures, lol.

ETA: It just struck me that some of these might make decent icons. Hmm.

What kind of challenge was it? Because maybe we should have one of those over on [livejournal.com profile] hoodland...

The challenge was to make a picspam or collage on a specific topic, and the points are awarded according to the number of pictures you use, with points capped at 100 pics or more.

One thing I've noticed is that other land comms have more of these kind of challenges. Of course, these comms all have much bigger membership than < lj user=hoodland>, but our challenges and games are more fun, IMO.

Ah! I see. It seems like a fun challenge.

We don't really have a lot of graphic challenges. Ours are a lot more writing based (that's what it seems like to me at times, I could be completely wrong!).

Yeah, we tend to have more writing challenges, because I think we have more writers than artists at [livejournal.com profile] hoodland anyway.

I'm also noticing that the average age of participants at [livejournal.com profile] merlin_land is way lower, and while I'm not suggesting that has any relevance at all, I wonder if the average 19-year old in fandom isn't better at most graphic manipulations than someone like me, lol.

*snort* That could be one of the reasons. Photoshop is pretty much obligatory for kids these days and unless you're in the graphics industry, I think that people that are not in high-school anymore don't really use it at all.

That's true. I've sort of trained myself to use Photoshop, but my skills are pretty rudimentary. I can crop pictures and slap some text on them and that's pretty much it, lol.

I also think some people are just more visually inclined, and I'm not one of those people. I like words, but pictures leave me mystified. *shrugs*
