That's right, folks. They're going to destroy a place of archaelogical/anthropological/spiritual importance...to build a Sam's Club.

New Afghan legislation further diminishes women's rights

The revised bill allows husbands to starve their wives if the women deny their husbands sexual favors. Afghan laws are typically made of several types of fail, but this is fail of epic proportions, even by those standards.

Gawd, the world just gets more effed up everyday.

You know what's really sad about all this? Democracy hasn't made one lick of difference to the plight of these poor women. Now they're just pawns in a political game between various factions in Afghanistan. It makes me just so mad!

God, absolutely. The fact that democracy (if you can call it that, it's not like the govt has any power out in the country anyway) allows this kind of legislation to come up is so disappointing.
